Testimonials

Here’s what meeting planners and attendees are saying about a marketing presentation from Chris Houchens

Our Executive Directors thought your presentation was outstanding and you successfully taught them so many important tools and ideas. So thank you for putting together a great seminar.
–Joanne Schecter, Executive Vice President – AAF Club Services

Can’t thank you enough for your phenomenal presentation at our annual convention. The information contained in your presentation was the most “usable” information our franchisees received this year! Most importantly, your presentation was not a sales pitch—it was practical, excellent information delivered in an entertaining, informative way. Time after time, our post convention survey forms listed you as one of the biggest highlights of the week. Thanks again Chris!!!
–Leigh A. Woeller, Director of Franchising – Good Feet, LLC

The presentation was awesome. Attendees gave you very high ratings, indicating that they, too, loved what you had to say. (A few people rated you 10+, 12 or “excellent”)
–Art McFarlane, President – MacMichiana

Chris’ presentation on brand strategies was spot on with his concise definition of branding and provided key examples of successful branding in addition to being brutally honest regarding failed branding attempts. Chris was very engaging with our full-house audience which spurred a great question and answer session. Our March membership luncheon was a complete success thanks to Chris and his market relevant presentation.
–Thom Harris, Programs Chair — Ad Fed Baton Rouge

Chris made me realize how important it is to step back and re-examine your brand every now and then. You have to keep it current, while staying true to it. Not as easy at it sounds.
Colleen Jackson, Communications Chair — Ad Fed Baton Rouge

  • I found it interesting that both Toyota and Old Spice try to market to the younger, hipper generation but with different strategy. Toyota kept its image but came out with the Scion while Old Spice just changed its marketing strategy. He had some guts by standing up to Starbucks and saying that they will not succeed with their cheaper line of coffee.
    –David Le, Graphic Designer
  • I thought he was great. As a student, he was dead on with everything we are learning in school. His points made perfect sense. He also did well at holding my attention and speaking of interesting topics.

Praise for marketing work and ideas

Chris and Shotgun Concepts try to present marketing solutions in a new way that works in today’s cluttered world. Below are a few of the pats on the back that we’ve received. Please contact us if you’d like to read the full context of these or would like further references.

“Shotgun Concepts has demonstrated that it is a Purple Cow catalyst,
helping clients shake things up and think innovatively. Shotgun has
challenged its clients to become spectacular and invigorating. Smart
companies realize that they can create Purple Cows faster with a bull.”

–Seth Godin – Dobbs Ferry, New York

(Upon Shotgun Concepts inclusion into the Bull Market Directory)

“Chris helped discover the best use of our small budget for marketing. He
helped prioritize our advertising needs, made recommendations, and
supplied contacts for various media outlets. Chris was professional yet
casual and friendly. He understood that my agency’s need’s were unique. He
also followed up with me to see how effective the new marketing strategies
were. The right decisions made about marketing and advertising (as a
result of his consultation) far outweigh the fee for his service. Our
agency will continue to benefit from the marketing consultation received
from Chris Houchens and Shotgun Concepts.”

–M. Johnson – Bowling Green, Kentucky

“Chris has wonderful ideas for ads, etc and he has done a remarkable job
with the website. He continually comes up with new ideas to bring in more
patients.”

–S. Dishman – Glasgow, Kentucky

“Right on, Chris! I’ve read Chris’ articles. I think I’ve even seen one at
BusinessWeek.com. We’re in the same industry, and our philosophy is
similar to Shotgun’s. It’s a more informed, more valuable and more
respectful way to sell marketing services. “Give a man a fish and he eats
for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime!” (Chinese
proverb)

–S. Lineberg- Charleston, West Virginia via Fast Company

“I do get tired of all the gurus coming in and speaking of experience. You
should never do anything with your business unless you understand it and
this company seems to want to help you do that. Good for them. Seems to be
working for them. ”

–A. Balise – Washington, DC via Fast Company
